Though Chiropractic proved to be effective, it wasn’t widely accepted. The medical community was afraid D.D. Palmer’s success openly criticized his methods of practicing unconventional medicine, and he doesn’t even have a license.
D.D. Palmer was indicted in 1905 for practicing medicine without a license and was sentenced to 105 days in jail and fined $350. Palmer was able to publish two books before he died at the age of 68. The two books of D.D. Palmer are “The Science of Chiropractic” and “The Chiropractors Adjuster.”
