BATHING YOUR PET DOGS 4 of 4

Filed under: Pet Articles — fworth @ 5:39 pm

Dispense the shampoo starting at the back of your dog’s head down to his tail and work up lather. You might have to use more shampoo to his paws and legs as these may have accumulated more dirt. Make sure that as you shampoo him, you do not get the shampoo in his ears, eyes and nose. Make sure that you clean his stomach as well. If the ears of your dog do not flop down, place a cotton ball or pad so that water and soap cannot reach the inner part of the ears.

After shampooing, you can then start rinsing his face with a small cup, but not a detachable nozzle. However, you can use the detachable nozzle for rinsing the body. Make sure that you rinse him a couple of times to make sure that you have removed all the soap, as any soap leftover can cause the skin to be irritated.

After rinsing, wrap a towel around him and dry him playfully, so that your dog would see bathing as a fun and pleasurable activity.

Once your dog is dry, you can then groom him, as dogs can be restless when wet. Put your dryer on a low setting to dry him. If the sun is out, you can also leash him under the sun to dry.
