Automatic Directory Submission 2 of 3

Setting up your submission software would also help you in keeping track of your submissions to avoid submitting to the same site many times. Some directories assume an attitude of flagging for spamming if you submit your site more than once.

Beware of software that claims to be able to submit to over a thousand major search engines because there are none. There is only the triumvirate of Google, Yahoo! and MSN. Also, any directory website that is listed on the software for automated submission must feature an active link to its home page. This will let you know if you just submitted your website to a directory that doesn’t exist.

Good software for automatic directory submission would feature updates to the database of directories. A directory submission is pretty much like anti-virus software. No matter how good it is, it’s still not good enough if the virus database is not updated. Changes to the directory database are necessary mainly because of changes to the submission requirements. Most software packages allow the downloading updates of as they become available.
