Importance of Submitting to Directories 1 OF 3
Submitting to directories is one of the most important things that you can do when you are on the path of building links to your website. Aside from helping your website catch the necessary quality links to your site (a must in ranking well with the search engines), submitting to directories also builds up your reputation.
The biggest directory project thus far is the Open Directory Project. ODP is also known as the Google directory. It has been said that it’s hard to get the approval of the ODP, but following some basic steps can get your submission approved, and you should never have a problem submitting to other directories like Yahoo! directory.
Most of the directories today have human editors who severely dislike multiple submissions. So take note, do not submit more than once, unless if you have a big website with multiple categories, then you can place your sub domains in other sections of the directory.
