Have you ever wondered why your dog keeps destroying your stuff like your slippers or your shoes by chewing on them? One of the reasons for this is that your dog might simply be teething. Give your pet chewable toys to keep him from chewing on your favorite sofa or pair of loafers. These chewable toys are easily found in pet shops and they are free from toxic materials that could harm your dogs.
Sometimes dogs just want to get your attention and one of the things they do to acquire this is by chewing so try to set aside and spend a little more time with your dog by playing with him.
As a conclusion, try to keep your dog preoccupied with plenty of dog toys so that they won’t be a problem to you or the surrounding neighborhood.
If your dog loves to dig holes and burry stuff in your backyard, you can provide one area or a specific spot in the backyard for the dog to dig around. This way your landscaping masterpiece won’t be damaged and there won’t be ugly holes in your garden. You can also spray a dog repellant on the areas where you don’t want your canine digging around.
Sometimes, male dogs also dig because they want to go to the nearby female dog in heat. The simple solution to this dilemma is to have the dog neutered.
Another very annoying thing that dogs do is bark, more so if they are barking at nothing. They just bark for the sake of it or when they hear other dogs barking. This usually causes problems with the immediate neighbors of the owner.
Dogs usually bark because they are bored, especially when they are tied up and have nowhere to go. If this creates a problem between you and your neighbors, then you should try putting your dog in a doggie day care during the daytime so your pet won’t be disturbing other people. You can also leave some toys lying around to keep him busy and also consider turning the TV on while you are away. This makes them feel like there are humans around and this helps in making them relax.
Everybody loves their dogs but sometimes it cannot be avoided that dogs could be nuisances at times. Dogs can be very annoying when they make a mess because of their digging, when they bark nonstop and when they chew on your shoes or furniture. But dog owners can do something about their pet’s annoying behaviors if they know what causes it.
The reason dogs tend to dig varies from their breed and circumstances. Some dogs just dig holes because they are bored or have no one to play with. If you think this is the reason for your dog’s digging, one solution to this is to take the dog for a walk or give him some form of exercise. This way he or she will be entertained and will probably be tired afterwards to dig.
Feed them right
Dogs should be fed the right food at the right time and with the right amount. Dogs have different nutritional needs from man so feeding them with table food, even in large quantities, may not necessarily meet their nutritional requirements. Dog foods are available in pet shops, pet clinics, and groceries. Select the dog food that is most compatible to your pet.
You may check with the veterinarian and ask for recommendation regarding what could be best for your dog. Feed them once a day, preferably at night, though larger dogs might need to be given snacks in the morning. Avoid over feeding them for canines can also suffer from obesity, heart disease, and arthritis. Also make sure to give them enough water for hydration is important to keep them healthy.
Take Them to the Vet Regularly
Prevention is better than cure. Just because your dog is active and looks healthy it doesn’t mean they don’t need regular medical attention. Regularly bringing your pets to the veterinarian for check-ups helps keep them in top condition. Also, regular check-ups will help in detecting possible illnesses at an early stage and medication could be given right away.

Shots and vaccines are also important to keep both you and your pet safe. When they reach the age of six to eight weeks, you can start their vaccinations and then follow them with booster shots at twelve and sixteen weeks for maximum immunity. A booster shot once a year is also necessary.
When you take in a dog, or any animal, for a pet, be sure that you have the means to take care of them. Just like humans, dogs have needs that their masters should be aware and considerate of. Many dogs die because of neglect and because their masters could not provide their needs. Owning and raising a pet is a responsibility you should be prepared for if you plan to have one. GP
Dogs have been called man’s best friend for nothing. Canines have proven themselves over and over to be very dependable and helpful to man in many ways. Many dogs have shown bravery in protecting their masters and numerous accounts of dogs doing heroic rescues have been recorded.
Two of these numerous heroic dogs are Balto and Barry. These two canines have shown bravery and helped saved the lives of many people.
When a diphtheria epidemic hit Alaska in 1925 and many children were put in grave danger of dying, a Siberian Husky sled dog named Balto led the last leg of the race that transported diphtheria antitoxin from Anchorage, Alaska to Nome.

Nome is 1,600 kilometers away from Anchorage, the place where the antitoxin to be administered to the children were coming from, and the only two aircraft that could deliver the medicine quickly were dismantled due to the winter season. The only alternative left was to transport the medicine through a team of sled dogs. There were 20 teams to complete the transportation of the serum to Nome. Balto, and his master, Gunnar Kaasen, was the second to the last team to deliver the serum. When Kaasen reached the point where the last runner was waiting, he found the runner to be sleeping so he decided to finish the remaining distance to Nome to avoid delay and to get the medicine to Nome as soon as possible.
Ironically, Kaasen did not consider Balto a good lead dog at the beginning but the Siberian Husky proved him wrong when the team got into the Iditarod trail. Balto saved his team from sure death in the Topkok River. And even when the trail was not visible due to the blizzard that the team came across, Balto was able to lead them when Kaasen himself cannot even see his hand in front of his face because of the whiteout condition.

When Balto died at 1933, his body was stuffed and was placed on display in the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. His bravery is immortalized in a monument made for him in New York City and through an animated film released by Universal Pictures on December 1995.
Long before Balto’s bravery, together with the other sled dogs that ran the race, a St. Bernard named Barry has already worked as a mountain rescue dog way back in the 1800s. This brave and gentle St. Bernard saved 40 lives during his life at the monastery near the Swiss-Italian border, the Great St. Bernard Pass. Travelers often end up in the monastery to seek for shelter and they reach the monastery through the aid of the dogs.

Groom your dog
Just like man, dogs get sick too and acquire serious injuries. To prevent your beloved canine from being afflicted with diseases, proper caring and grooming is needed. A dog’s eyes, ears, teeth and nails should be cared for like what people do. Removing eye boogers will help prevent your dog from getting eye infections. The ears should be cleared from excess wax and this should be done gently with an ear cleaning solution to avoid sores and to avoid damaging the ear.
Dogs require tooth brushing too. According to veterinarians, dog deaths due to periodontal diseases reach up to 80%. Brushing your dog’s teeth using a dental scraper and toothpaste specially intended for canines should protect your pets from contracting serious diseases due to digested plaque.

Terrier breed type of dogs is known for hunting and killing vermin such as rats, mice, and predatory animals that raid a farmer’s produce and livestock. Because of the task required of them, terrier dogs are generally energetic, brave, tenacious, and determined in nature. They are usually small to medium in size but even the smallest of terriers are ready to strike their opponent.
Herding dogs were mainly trained to herd live stocks such as cattle, reindeers, sheep, and other cloven footed animals. Their distinct characteristic is their ability to control the movement of other animals and their stamina that enables them to work for long hours. Many of the breeds in this group have waterproof double coat that protect them from elements in severe weather conditions.
Toy dogs were developed for the purpose of providing pleasure to rich people. They are usually viewed as status symbol by many since they were initially owned by the wealthy. Toy dogs are small and even diminutive in size. They are generally easy to care for and good at learning tricks. GP
Non-sporting Dog types are diverse and are composed of breeds that do not fit the criteria of other groups. There are 17 breeds belonging to this group. The breeds in this group have been trained or bred to perform specific tasks but may no longer perform them. Dogs in this category are usually medium to large size groups and are a popular choice as family companions.
With 22 breeds belonging to the group, working dogs were developed to perform a wide variety of tasks like herding, pulling, hauling, hunting, guarding and rescuing. With the nature of the work they do, working dogs are generally large. They are intelligent and protect their masters well. Since they are physically large, they could be hard to manage at times and they require control and proper training so as not to harm people accidentally. It is not hard to train them, though, for working dog breeds are innately intelligent.
Hound dogs have been bred and trained to chase a quarry by their sense of smell or sight, or a combination of both. Sight hounds, like the Greyhound and the Whippet, have exceptional eyesight. They also have the speed and the stamina needed to catch a prey. Hounds that rely on their sense of smell, however, are not that fast and do not use their eyesight much. They rely on their noses and sniff around for tracks.
